Call to action - Mobilise for Kwabena's court hearing 17 January
Join the protest outside Bristol Crown Court
On 17 January 2025, Kwabena has her plea hearing at Bristol Crown Court. We’re calling on supporters to be there at 12 to show solidarity.
Kwabena’s case is part of a crackdown by the British state to criminalise pro-Palestine dissent, as it continues to aid in the genocide of the Palestinian people.
The demonstration is already backed by Bristol PSC, Bristol Stop the War, Cardiff Stop the War, Cardiff PSC, Cardiff BLM and BLM UK.
Can you get your union branch to support, send a message of solidarity and a delegation with a banner?
Model Motion
Justice for Kwabena - model motion
This union notes:
That anti-racism campaigner Kwabena Devonish is facing trial under anti-terrorism laws for a speech at a Palestine solidarity demonstration in November 2023.
The increasing use of anti-terrorism charges by police to investigate protest activities and social media posts by Palestine solidarity activists
Condemnation of lengthy jail sentences handed to Just Stop Oil climate activists for planning non-violent protests in July 2024 from human rights organisations and UN experts
This union believes:
That the use of anti-terrorism laws and the imposition of draconian sentences for participating in non-violent protests threatens our collective democratic rights.
This union resolves:
To sign the Justice for Kwabena solidarity statement and circulate information about this case to members.
To send a message of solidarity to the protest at the next trial hearing outside Bristol Crown Court, 12 noon on 17 January 2025 and to send a delegation to with our banner
